<p>PURPOSE: A character input apparatus of a touch screen device and a method thereof are provided to offer a large character input part, by displaying a character input part on an entire execution screen with constant transparency. CONSTITUTION: A character input part (110) outputs with overlap according to transparency set on a background screen or an execution screen outputted on a touch screen (100). A transparency setting part is displayed in the character input part, ad sets the transparency, and a touch recognition part (130) senses touch to the character input part and recognizes touch operation. A character assembly part (300) assembles character according to a signal recognized from the touch recognition part. A control part (200) displays a corresponding character in the touch screen by recognizing touch in the touch recognition part, and sets transparency of the character input part according to the corresponding transparency by recognizing the operation of the transparency setting part.
