PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for drying sludge are provided to shorten times required for drying processes by successively connecting a disk drier and a microwave-based direr and to successively implement drying processes. CONSTITUTION: Sewage sludge is generated from a sewage treating plant. The sewage sludge is dehydrated to become the dehydrated sewage sludge with the moisture content of 80%. The dehydrated sewage sludge is dried in a disk drier such that the moisture content of the sewage sludge becomes 60%. The sludge with the moisture content of 60% is dried in a microwave-based drier such that the moisture content of the sewage sludge becomes 10%. The dried sludge is discharged through a discharging pipe. The dehydrator is a belt press or a centrifuge. The microwave-based drier is composed of a first drying chamber, a second drying chamber, a third drying chamber, and the discharging pipe. The amount of primarily treated sludge is more than or equal to 100 ton per day, the disk drier is replaced with a kiln drier. |
