PURPOSE: An icebreaker with a hinge type bulbous bow is provided to improve fuel efficiency by reducing power loss through the reduction of wave drag and to rapidly and safely navigate the frozen sea using an icebreaking bow. CONSTITUTION: An icebreaker (10) with a hinge type bulbous bow comprises a hinge type bulbous bow. The hinge type bulbous bow is hinged on one side of a housing space (11) formed on the inner bottom of the icebreaker. The bulbous bow is protruded to the bow of the icebreaker or received in the housing space depending on the navigating sea area of the icebreaker.
