PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing an Acorus gramineus Soland extract for preventing and treating erectile dysfunction(ED) is provided to basically treat vascular condition without side effects by continuously administering, and to prevent, treat, and alleviate erectile dysfunction. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating erectile dysfunctional contains an Acorus gramineus Soland extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using ethanol. The extract relaxes smooth muscle of corpus cavernosum penis through NO-cGMP pathway. The extract causes hyperpolarization by opening K+ pathway and relaxes smooth muscle of corpus cavernosum penis. A health functional food composition contains a sitologically acceptable food additive and the extract.
