The method involves opening a mold by an opening movement that moves away a movable part (12) from a fixed part (11) of the mold. A sprue (K) is extracted from the mold. An extraction arm (3) is arranged near a parting line, and connected to the movable part by a kinematic link formed of a movable support (41) and an elongated cam (42). The opening movement is utilized to move the arm between a rest position, in which an active end (30) of the arm is arranged outside the mold, and an extraction position in which the end of the arm is arranged inside the mold to permit insertion of the sprue. An independent claim is also included for a molding device comprising an elongated cam.
