PURPOSE: A medical ultrafine-grained titanium alloy rod material and a manufacturing method for the same are provided to manufacture into the shape of a rod and to ensure excellent biocompatibility and sufficient rigidity. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method for an ultrafine-grained titanium alloy rod material comprises the following steps: thermally treating a titanium alloy which contains 10-15 weight% of Nb, 10-15 weight% of Zr, remaining amount of Ti, and impurities at a beta transformation temperature or higher temperature; cooling the titanium alloy with water to equip the layered tissue of the martensite; forming a rod by applying 80% or more transformation rate based on a sectional reduction rate through the groove rolling of the titanium alloy; and performing the thermally treating step for 30 or more minutes at 742-900°C.
