PURPOSE: A backlight unit and an illumination system using the same are provided to secure light weight and low manufacturing costs by using a reflector and a supporter having an inclined surface without a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit includes a first reflector(200), a second reflector(300), at least one light source module(100), at least one supporter(400). The light source module is arranged between the first and the second reflector. The supporter is arranged in the second reflector. A groove(310) is formed in a part of the second reflector. A part of the supporter is inserted into the groove of the second reflector.
