A steering device, comprising: an inner column; an outer column fitted to the outside of the inner column; a vehicle body attachment bracket; a distance bracket fixed to the outer circumference of the outer column, and slidably held between right and left side plates of the vehicle body attachment bracket; and a tightening rod. A long groove for telescoping and wherein the tightening rod is inserted is formed in the distance bracket. The distance bracket comprises a front-side pair of right and left tightening sections and a rear-side pair of right and left tightening sections. The length in the shaft direction between the front-side pair of right and left tightening sections and the rear-side pair of right and left tightening sections is shorter than the length in the shaft direction of the long groove for telescoping. A pair of right and left through-holes into which either the front-side pair of right and left tightening sections or the rear-side pair of right and left tightening sections are inserted are formed in the outer column. |
