The method involves decrypting a data set for obtaining another data set by a detection instance (EIm) within a selection instance (WIm). The latter data set is encrypted by a cryptographic key for producing a third data set by the detection instance. The third data set is transferred from the detection instance to a voting evaluation instance (SIm) within the selection instance. The third data set is decrypted for obtaining the latter data set by the voting evaluation instance. The latter data set is decrypted for evaluating selection information of a voter by the voting evaluation instance. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a security element (2) a selection instance.
