To maximally reduce the burden of creating a PLC unit configuration, a system construction assistance device (10) is provided with a product specifications information storage unit (24), a unit selection unit (22) and a unit configuration generation unit (26). Said product specifications information storage unit (24) stores in advance, product specifications information that for each of multiple units, describes a condition related to a slot in which the unit will be mounted, and describes an assessment priority order for setting the execution sequence of a process that sets the slot in which the unit will be mounted. One or more user-selected units is recorded in selected-unit information by said unit selection unit (22). For each unit recorded in the selected-unit information, said unit configuration generation unit (26): sequentially executes the process that sets the slot in which the unit will be mounted, said process being executed such that the condition related to said slot is satisfied, said process being executed in a sequence based on the assessment priority order described in the product specifications information; and generates unit configuration information that describes the association between the unit and a slot in which a base unit will be mounted.
