Provided is an endoscope objective optical system consisting of a front group, an aperture stop, and a back group disposed in order from an object side; and a meniscus lens that can be inserted in and removed from an optical path between the aperture stop and the front group or the back group, with a convex surface thereof facing the aperture stop side.
