An ablutionary fitting such as a tap (1) has a body (2) and a control lever (3). The body (2) has an outlet (4) and a supply inlet (5). The body (2) is configured to receive a control valve cartridge (6) inserted through an aperture (12) in base (11) of the body (2) for controlling the flow of fluid from the supply inlet (5) to the outlet (4). The body (2) comprises a single-piece and includes a rearwardly facing body aperture (7) providing access through the body (2) for connecting the control lever (3) to the control valve cartridge (6). A grip portion of the control lever (3) is spaced above an unbroken upper surface (25) of the body (2) and is configured so that a perimeter of the grip portion overlies and is aligned with a perimeter of the upper surface (25) of the body (2) in a closed position of the control lever (3).
