<p>Provided is a simple and low cost dog walking aid for rehabilitation of dogs with a hindrance to walking because of an impairment such as hip joint dislocation, excess obesity, and the like but with good prospects for recovery of walking ability by suitable exercise and the like, said walking aid reducing the burden on a dog by suitably supporting the body weight being borne on its four legs, particularly the rear legs, while maintaining a natural walking state as much as possible so as to encourage voluntary walking exercise. The walking aid can be adjusted conveniently to any weight retention force according to the location and extent of the impediment or disease of the dog. The dog walking aid comprises: a main body frame formed from a horizontal member and four support legs having pivotable wheels; four cables that latch to a harness worn on the body of the dog and suspend the body of the dog at the shoulder regions and the pelvic region; and a constant load mechanism that holds the cables by a retraction force from a mainspring. The retraction force of the constant load mechanism can be set freely; therefore, the suspension force can be adjusted freely according to the weight and extent of impediment of the dog.</p> |
