The system (1) has an opening instrument (2) e.g. bottle opener such as corkscrew, for opening a product package i.e. bottle (3), that comprises a limited life utility. A movement detection unit detects characteristic lifting movement (6) associated with opening of the package and transmits a signal to a printer unit (4) i.e. adhesive label printer, during detection of the characteristic movement. The printer unit is formed for printing a label i.e. adhesive label (9), during reception of the signal, where the label is provided with time and/or date specification. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a system for issuing labels.
