<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base surface plate which has performance equivalent to or above a conventional one, and enables cost reduction and reduction in a manufacturing period. <P>SOLUTION: The base surface plate serves as a base for installing a machine, and has a rectangular steel tube 2 with a rectangle cross section as a frame structure, and a reference surface 20 formed by finishing an upper surface of the rectangular steel tube 2 to be smooth. Preferably, a side plate 31 for improving rigidity is joined to both end openings of the rectangular steel tube 2. To a lower surface of the rectangular steel tube 2, a leg part for raising the rectangular steel tube 2 can be connected.
