<p>PURPOSE: A driving apparatus of a light receiving type display device and a method thereof are provided to improve display quality by suitably adjusting the operation timing of a display panel and a light source. CONSTITUTION: A display panel driving unit(32) receives a display panel control signal and a first light source control signal from an external control apparatus, drives a display panel(10) according to the display panel signal, processes the first light source control signal and outputs the processed signal as a second light source control signal. A light source driving unit(34) drives the light source based on the second light source control signal. The second light source control signal controls the light source to supply the light to the display panel after the display panel driving unit completes a display preparation operation.</p>
