The circuit (4) has a series circuit (21) comprising first- and second sub-modules (22), where each sub-module comprises a single-phase half bridge on an input side and a single-phase full bridge on a load side. An intermediate circuit capacitor is additionally connected in parallel with the bridges. Another series circuit (36) comprises third- and fourth sub-module and is connected in parallel with the former series circuit. The first and third sub-modules are wired together on the load side. The second and fourth sub-modules are wired together on the load side.
