<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide PVA which imparts a suitable viscosity to a mixture containing cellulosic biomass, or the like, on the production of the hydrolyzable cellulose from the cellulosic biomass as a raw material, whereby the decomposition of cellulosic biomass to a molecular level can be facilitated, and the hydrolyzable cellulose can consequently efficiently be produced. <P>SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer is used for producing the hydrolyzable cellulose from cellulosic biomass as a raw material and having monomer units represented by formula (1) (wherein, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>are each independently H, alkyl or acyl; and X is a 1-3C alkylene which may be single-bonded or bonded through an oxygen atom). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
