<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent, without unnecessarily limiting firmware writing, only the inappropriate firmware writing. <P>SOLUTION: The firmware of a printer 1 includes a main routine, a firmware rewriting routine, and determination information for determining propriety of the firmware rewriting. A firmware storage area is provided inside a storage part 4 of the printer 1, and a determination area for writing the determination information is provided in a boot sector at the beginning of the firmware storage area. When firmware rewriting processing is started, a control part 3 of the printer 1 receives data for rewriting in one sector at the beginning first, acquires the determination information which is data for rewriting a fixed address set as the determination area, and determines whether to complete or stop the rewriting processing of the firmware on the basis of the determination information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
