PURPOSE: A vehicle detection device using a magnetic sensor and a method thereof are provided to increase determination accuracy for the existence and movement status of a vehicle by correcting magnetic signal variations for an actual vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic sensor part(200) detects magnetic field variations caused by the movement of a vehicle and generates a magnetic signal for the changing magnetic field. A correction information generation part(300) records driving information of a reference vehicle and magnetic signal variations caused by the movement of the reference vehicle and generates correction information. A vehicle detection part(500) corrects magnetic signal variations caused by the movement of an actual vehicle and generated by the magnetic sensor part, analyzes the corrected magnetic signal variations, and detects the movement of the actual vehicle. A control part controls a communications part, the correction information generation part, and the vehicle detection part and sets up a correction information generation mode or a vehicle detection mode.
