<p>The present invention relates to an electric vehicle and to a method for controlling same. The electric vehicle according to the present invention comprises: a battery pack, including a plurality of cells for storing electricity and a sub-switch for connecting the plurality of cells in series; a sensor unit for sensing a vehicle crash; an airbag control unit for receiving the intensity of the crash from the sensor unit, determining whether or not to operate an airbag, and generating an airbag operating signal when it is determined that the airbag should be operated; a battery management system for receiving the airbag operating signal from the airbag control unit and issuing operating instructions to the sub-switch of the battery pack and a power relay unit; and said power relay unit for cutting off the high voltage being applied to the motor control unit from the battery pack according to the operating instructions. The sub-switch of the battery pack cuts off the high voltage being applied to the battery pack itself according to the operating instructions.</p> |
