The method of preventing ignition, combustion and explosion of hydrogen-air mixtures involves adding an inhibitor to the hydrogen-air mixtures, the inhibitor being a mixture of halohydrocarbons CFBr+CFBr and/or CFBr+CFl and/or CFBr+CFClBrand/or CFBr+CFCl. The inhibitor is added in amount ranging from 6 vol. % to 20 vol. % of the volume of the mixture.EFFECT: high efficiency of preventing ignition, combustion and explosion of hydrogen-air mixtures, low chemical aggressiveness and toxicity, wider temperature range and cheaper process of preventing ignition.4 tbl
