<p>Provided is an organic electroluminescent element (EL element) which uses an indolocarbazole compound. An organic EL element wherein a positive electrode, a plurality of organic layers including a phosphorescent layer, and a negative electrode are laminated on a substrate and wherein an organic layer, which is selected from among the phosphorescent layer, a hole transport layer, an electron transport layer, a hole blocking layer and an electron blocking layer, contains an indolocarbazole compound that has a structure wherein one N-position of the indolocarbazole ring is substituted by a carbazolyl group and another N-position is substituted by at least one aromatic hydrocarbon group or aromatic heterocyclic group.</p> |
