RABBIT MODEL EXHIBITING ADVANCED ATHEROSCLEROSIS INDUCED BY CHOLESTEROL-SUPPLEMENTED DIET AND INFLAMMATION

PURPOSE: A rabbit model for exhibiting advanced atherosclerosis is provided to have similar characteristics to advanced atherosclerosis and to be easily conducted within a short term. CONSTITUTION: A rabbit model exhibiting advanced atherosclerosis includes an advanced atherosclerosis induced by cholesterol-supplemented diet and inflammation by periodically injecting an inflammation-inducing material to a rabbit with cholesterol-supplemented diet. The cholesterol-supplemented diet is conducted by feeding the rabbit feed with 0.5-1.5 wt% of cholesterol. The inflammation-inducing material is carrageenan or lipopolysaccharide.
