PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer repair coating method of an under coating, particularly a multi-layer repair coating method of vehicles. SOLUTION: The multi-layer repair coating method of a substrate comprising steps of adhering a base coat layer of a water-based base coat coating composition on the substrate which has been pre-coated and adhering a clear coat layer of a transparent clear coat coating composition on the resulting base coat layer, said method is characterized in that the base coat layer of the water- based coating composition, which imparts color and/or specific effects, is adhered by applying three times continuous spray coating and each spray application is performed so that the coated belt-like part is uniformly adhered on the surface of the substrate to be coated and the adjacent part thereof includes substantially no overlapped coating.
