<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus that include a configuration capable of suppressing an occurrence of disturbance of a liquid developer image (toner image) transferred on a recording material even if a recording material having low liquid-absorbing property is used. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device can be operated in a first fixing mode for passing a recording material P through a first nip area n1, a non-contact heating device 10, and a second nip area n2 sequentially in accordance with liquid-absorbing property of the recording material P; and a second fixing mode for passing the recording material P through the non-contact heating device 10 and the second nip area n2 sequentially without passing the recording material P through the first nip area n1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
