PURPOSE: A display device and a control method thereof are provided to protect the privacy of each user when a plurality of users set and use one user group ID. CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(180) stores user biometric information and metadata which corresponds to the biometric information. A control unit(190) determines the metadata which corresponds to the stored biometric information which matches with each of the biometric information which is inputted through a biometric information input unit(150) and each of the biometric information which is inputted through the comparison with the stored biometric information. Based on the common metadata among the metadata, the control unit produces the user group information.
