<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for polishing a brake drum which is reduced in the damage of an apparatus caused by heat. <P>SOLUTION: This device for polishing the brake drum includes: a fixation base 12 including a yoke 15; an electromagnetic coil 17 having a conductive wire wound around the yoke 15; a movable element 11 movably arranged oppositely to the fixation base 12; a compression spring 16 for energizing the movable element 11 toward a braking surface of the brake drum 2; a base 10 fixed to the movable element 11; and a whetstone 9 arranged on the base 10 and coming into surface-contact with the braking surface. The device for polishing a brake drum separates the whetstone 9 from the braking surface by an electromagnetic force generated by the current-carrying of the electromagnetic coil 17 against an elastic force of the compression spring 16, brings the whetstone 9 into press-contact with the braking surface by the elastic force of the compression spring 16 by cutting off the current of the electromagnetic coil 17, and polishes the braking surface by intermittently bringing the whetstone 9 into press-contact with the braking surface having rotated by repeating the carrying and cut-off of the current of the electromagnetic coil 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
