<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of suppressing a sudden change in brightness of a video image between continuous two frames. <P>SOLUTION: A projection type video display device 100 includes a light source control unit 240 that controls a light-emission period of light emitted from a light source unit 10. The light source control unit 240 performs brightness improvement processing for setting a white light-emission period W.
