<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of precisely determining toner density of developer to accurately supply the developer to a developing device on the basis of output a magnetic detection element even if development is started after the developing device is activated and before output of the magnetic detection element becomes stable. <P>SOLUTION: During a time period from conveyance of developer is started in association with an image formation start signal until a predetermined time when the surface of the developer becomes stable, an image forming apparatus sets a toner supply amount smaller to an equal output of an inductance sensor 14.
