The present invention concerns phospholipid compositions having a relatively high concentration of compounds of the following structure: wherein at least one of R1 and R2 is palmitoleoyl, myristoleoyl or lauroleoyl and methods for their preparation. The present invention also concerns the use of these phospholipid compositions to treat a variety of disorders by administering the composition to a patient in need thereof.
