摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect a short circuit failure of a switching element by avoiding employing such a time when a ringing noise occurs as a timing for detecting a voltage used for detecting a short circuit failure of a switching element, relating to a short circuit failure detecting device for an inverter and a motor control device. <P>SOLUTION: The short circuit failure detecting device for an inverter detects a short circuit failure of the switching element in an inverter circuit that contains two switching elements connected in series between a power source and a ground. A voltage between both terminals that occurs at both terminals of one switching element, among two switching elements, when a control signal inputted for driving one switching element of the two switching elements is switched from on to off is monitored.
