<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a through-put (the number of sheets processed per unit time) and a response time of an apparatus by reducing a computing cost in the process of increasing a depth field corresponding to setting by a user in a virtual slide system. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: imaging characteristic capturing means that, based on information specifying the field depth of a second image datum to be created, obtains the imaging characteristics of a virtual optical system that has the specified depth field; selection means that obtains, based on the imaging characteristics, an effect range where the effect of an object apart from a focusing position in the direction of an optical axis on an image exceeds a predetermined condition, and selects a first image datum from a plurality of first image data, the first image datum including the focusing position within the effect range; and creating means for creating a second image datum by using the first image datum selected by the selection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
