PURPOSE: A device for sensing a refrigerant leakage of a heat exchanger and a method for sensing the refrigerant leakage of the heat exchanger using the same are provided to improve the accuracy of sensing the refrigerant leakage and accurately sense the existence of the refrigerant leakage regardless of the material of the heat exchange pipe of the heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION: A device(200) for sensing a refrigerant leakage of a heat exchanger comprises a body(210), a mixing unit, a storage tank, a head unit(220), and a sensing unit. The body includes a seating stand(211) where the heat exchanger is seated and a receiving unit(213) arranged under the seating stand. The mixing unit mixes the refrigerant and the compressed air of high pressure, thereby generating mixed gas. The storage tank stores the mixed gas. The head unit installed on the seating stand receives the mixed gas from the storage tank through one or more inlets arranged on one side. The head unit is connected to the inlets in the other side. One or more fixtures where a refrigerant inlet and a refrigerant inlet are directly or indirectly connected are arranged on the other side of the head unit. The sensing unit senses the refrigerant leaked out from the heat exchanger.
