The device (1) has a valve arrangement (16) comprising valves e.g. seat valves and slider valves. A position transducer (46) senses a position of an actuator element and generates a position signal to be applied to a controller. The controller comprises an input to receive the position signal and an output to predefine a pressure medium quantity to a pressure medium source. The controller comprises a logic circuit that supplies a pulsed actuation signal or a predefined actuation signal to outflow valves (34, 38) or an actuation signal or a predefined actuation signal to the source. The pressure medium source is designed as an adjustment pump or a rotational-speed-controlled constant pump (2).
