PURPOSE: A multi-view image generation method and a 3D image display device are provided to analyze a histogram of a luminance image of a depth map in case of a static image and select a reference point by using a histogram corresponding to user reference, thereby calculating a disparity based on the selected reference point. CONSTITUTION: A 3D image display device removes noise of an input image and a luminance image(S202). The 3D image display device analyzes a histogram of the luminance image of a depth map included in the input image(S203). The 3D image display device selects a reference point corresponding to a selected 3D effect and calculates predetermined intervals by using the maximal value of luminance data of the histogram, the reference point, and the number of disparities. The 3D image display device differently calculates the disparities per predetermined interval based on the reference point(S205).
