PROCESS FOR PREPARING MODIFIED MONTMORILLONITE

A process for preparing organically modified montmorillonite is carried out by treating natural montmorillonite with organic ammonium halide. The natural montmorillonite is pre-dispersed in water followed by addition of sodium carbonate, the resulting mixture is stirred and resulting suspension is treated with oligourethane methane crylate ammonium chloride in a ratio, which corresponds to the exchange capacity of natural montmorillonite at room temperature followed by filtration and drying the target product.
