<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To repeat and amplify a burst optical signal while suppressing optical surge. <P>SOLUTION: Current signal wavelengths of time-division multiplexed uplink burst optical signals λ3, λ4 from ONUs (12-1 through 12-n) are determined by means of a spectrometer (44), optical receivers (46, 48) and a comparator (50). Based on the determination results, the comparator (50) sets the wavelength of a tunable light source (52) and the reflection wavelength of a selection reflector (62) to such wavelengths as not interfering with the current signal wavelength. A saturable optical amplifier (56) performs optical amplification of the uplink burst signal, in a state where the gain is saturated by gain control light from the tunable light source (52). An optical fiber amplifier (58) performs optical amplification of the output light from the saturable optical amplifier (56). An optical isolator (60) and the selection reflector (62) remove the gain control light component contained in the output light from the optical fiber amplifier (58). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
