<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of controlling degradation of performance and reliability caused by a strong shock on a movable unit, and eliminating a need to increase a power supply capacity. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes a movable unit for printing or reading an image, a preventive means for preventing the movement of the movable unit from exceeding a predetermined range, an absorbing means for absorbing shocks when the movement of the movable unit is prevented by the preventive means, and a detection means for detecting shocks.
