<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber capable of enhancing quietness when operated. <P>SOLUTION: The shock absorber has a housing 85 and a free piston 87 which is movably provided within the housing 85 and defines the inside of the housing 85 into a first housing chamber 124 connected to one side chamber 6 via a passage 42 and a second housing chamber 125 connected to the other side chamber 7 via a passage 99 provided on a side of the housing 85.
