<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing toner consumption in image stabilization control and performing appropriate image stabilization control even if a ghost is generated during image stabilization control. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus, which has, as a toner pattern, a first toner pattern in which a reference patch having the same density is disposed on both ends of a first gradation patch group consisting of a plurality of gradation patches in which the density is gradually changed along a running direction of an image carrier and a second toner pattern consisting of a second gradation patch group in which the first gradation patch group is disposed in the opposite direction. When a ghost is generated in the first gradation patch group, a gradation correcting part determines the current gradation characteristics by combination of the detection result of the first gradation patch group and the detection result of the second gradation patch group by a density detection part and generates gradation correction data on the basis of the gradation characteristics. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
