The image converting apparatus includes: a user inputting unit for setting a z control point to an object selected in a two-dimensional image and moving the z control point in a z-axis direction to receive depth information; a depth map generating unit for perceiving depth information on the object according to the movement of the z control point and generating a depth map; a display unit for projecting the object onto a virtual plane according to the 2-dimensional image and the input depth information, and displaying the object; and an image controller for controlling the projection of the object onto the virtual plane according to the movement of the z control point set to the object, and display the object.
