<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of components while preventing the intrusion of a foreign matter into a contact part of a switching device. <P>SOLUTION: A switching device includes a contact housing chamber S formed by the wall parts of an upper case 10 and a lower case 30. In the contact housing chamber S, an electrode pair formed of electrode plates 41 (a,b), 42 (a,b), 43 (a,b) arranged in parallel is disposed and a slider 60 is housed. A lever 5 of a nob 2 passes through a slit hole 24 provided on the top wall 11, and a tip end of the nob 2 is engaged with an engagement block 76 in a box portion 62 formed on the slider. An opening end surface of the box portion surrounds the slit hole, and slides in contact with the lower surface of the top wall. The slider switches the conductive state between the electrode plate 42 and the electrode plates 41, 43 by pressing a ball 80 energized by a coil spring 69 retained in a cylinder part 67 to a swing contact piece 46 supported by the electrode plate 42 to roll. Intrusion of dust from sliding surfaces of each other is prevented since the opening end surface of the box portion is covered by the lower surface of the top wall.
