<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet and an image display device having the optical sheet, in which a light-controlling function is improved such as improvement of an optical control layer having a light-absorbing portion containing light-absorbing particles and a light-transmitting portion. <P>SOLUTION: An optical sheet 10 includes a light-controlling layer 1 having light-transmitting portions 1a arranged along a plane (layer surface 1p) parallel to a sheet surface 10p and light-absorbing portions 1b arranged between the light-transmitting portions. The dispersion state of light-absorbing particles 2 in a resin binder 3 of the light-absorbing portion satisfies such conditions that: in any two particles 2a, 2b, which are selected from a plurality of the light-absorbing particles observed on a main cross section and have two inscribed lines L<SB POS="POST">L</SB>, L<SB POS="POST">R</SB>in contact with the two particles and not overlapping another light-absorbing particle between the two particles, when inclination angles θ<SB POS="POST">L</SB>, θ<SB POS="POST">R</SB>of the respective two inscribed lines relative to the normal line N of the sheet surface are averaged therebetween and among a plurality of pairs of any two particles, the obtained average inclination angle θ<SB POS="POST">AVE</SB>is 35° or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
