The mixer (18) has a tubular housing (20) with an inlet (22) and an outlet (24) for integrating the mixer into the exhaust system. Multiple static mixing elements (28) are arranged within the housing. The mixing elements are arranged in flow direction of exhaust gas at inner wall of the housing. A deflection of the exhaust gas is carried out around 60 degree, particularly 180 degree between the inlet and the outlet. The housing is formed as flat component with two cover walls. An independent claim is included for an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine.
