INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine system and a method for controlling the internal combustion engine system which can suppress fuel degradation in a fuel tank while reducing cost.

SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine system 1 having the fuel tank 10 for storing fuel to be supplied to an engine 12 and a muffler 14 in which exhaust gas is ejected from the engine 12 includes: an exhaust shutter 16 for closing the muffler 14; an exhaust gas introduction passage 48 connecting the muffler 14 and the fuel tank 10; and an ECU 44 configured to close the muffler 14 by the exhaust shutter 16 after the engine 12 is stopped to store the exhaust gas in the muffler 14 and to introduce the exhaust gas stored in muffler 14 into the fuel tank 10 via the exhaust gas introduction passage 48.
