The clamping device has housing (1) having piston (2). The piston has a conically expanding clamping section (6) in the tensioning direction of the piston. An expandable locking ring (3) is formed between the piston and the housing. The clamping ring has inner-side conical clamping surface which fits with clamping section. The inner side of the housing has groove in which an outer-side formed contour (9) of the clamping ring engages for positive force transmission in the longitudinal direction of the piston.
