A wreath or garland comprises an interior carrier and an outer decorative cover member placed around the carrier and is characterized in that the cover is formed by a cylindrically wound garland strip made from a synthetic web material reinforced by wire cores and the carrier is in the form of a strip. As shown in Fig. 4, to make a wreath the garland strip 96 is wound on a strip 2 which is bent in a circular shape and secured by staples 3. As shown in Fig. 7 a machine for producing wreaths comprises a mandrel 22 on which the garland strip 1 is wound and a holder 23 through which the strip 1 is fed and which is moved parallel to the mandrel by means of a shaft 24. The mandrel is provided with a slot 27 in which is fixed the inner strip and the wound garland strip 1 is transferred to the inner strip which is then removed from the mandrel and bent into a circular shape and stapled by a device 28. A station 30 is provided for adding extra objects to the wreath such as ribbons and bells. |
