PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for cooling a wire-rod coil are provided to guide the separation of overlapped portions of a wire-rod coil, which causes temperature differences, by changing the transfer speed of the wire-rod coil and setting a drop region through a step part. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for cooling a wire-rod coil comprises a conveyer unit(10) and one or more ventilation duct units(40). The conveyer unit transfers a rolled wire-rod coil. The ventilation duct units are arranged under the conveyer unit to cool the wire-rod coil. The conveyer unit comprises a plurality of unit conveyers(20) which have different feed speeds in order to enable the separation of overlapped portions of the wire-rod coil. Each unit conveyor is formed of a roller conveyor including transfer rollers on which a wire-rod coil is placed and transferred. The unit conveyors are associated with respective driving sources(24) and driven at different speeds. The unit conveyors are consecutively arranged and connected via a step part(30). |
