PURPOSE: A method for connecting to an external device and a device thereof are provided to offer convenience and clarity to a user by using a GUI(Graphic User Interface) attached to the external device. CONSTITUTION: An external device connecting unit(735) is connected to an external device, and a connection management unit(740) determines an application program connected to the mounted external device and displays a plug of the external device and the application program. When a user selects one of the application programs, the connection management unit executes the application program. The connection management unit determines the kind of the mounted external device by confirming the GPIO(General Purpose Input Output) input and output of an external device connection unit.
